Kwame Ofosu-Asare, Ghanaian, Killed In Brixton
Kwame Ofosu-Asare, 17, was cornered on a housing estate in Brixton, south London, before being repeatedly knifed.
Kwame posed with Rio Ferdinand...“Kwame captained
his school team. He made up his mind to play
football. Rio told him to keep focus”.
His murder followed the stabbing of another 17-year-old in nearby West Norwood hours earlier and five other stabbings in the previous week.
Police patrols have been stepped up and emergency stop-and-search powers introduced in the wake of the violence.
The murdered teenager, also known as Kwemz, died in an ambulance after being attacked at 5.50pm on Friday.
Police believe the sixth-form student was with a friend on their way to a relative’s house in Brixton.
Det Ch Insp John McFarlane said: Kwame was an innocent young man enjoying himself on a Friday afternoon when he was pursued and attacked by two knifemen’.
The victim in the West Norwood stabbing is in a stable condition in hospital. Gangs expert Tony Thompson said: ‘This sounds like a turf war’.
